A, B C and D decide to do a work such that all of them work for the 1st 2 days . A then leaves the work.B, C and D work alternately starting from B. Ratio of time taken by A, B, C and D if they work alone is 4 : 3 : 2 : 5. If the work is completed in 12 days then in how many days A and C can complete the work if they work together ? - Study24x7

  • Ratio of time taken is 4: 3:2:5, hence ratio of efficiencies is 1/4:1/3: 1/2:1/5. or 15: 20 : 30 : 12. Assume their efficiencies to be 15, 20,30 and 12 units respectively. Hence total work done in 12 days = 2*(15+20+30+12) + 3(20+30+12) +20 = 360 units( figure out how). Hence time required by A and C = 360/(15+30) = 8 days.
