What are Soft Skills? Soft skills are related to the attributes of “EQ” (Emotional Intelligence Quotient) present in a human being. Soft skills define many generalized individual skills that signify a person’s relationship with other people, such as way of communication, social graces, friendliness, personal habits and personality traits. This term also cover the character traits and interpersonal skills that describe a person’s association with other people. In work environment soft skills hold an equal value to that of hard skills, which refer to an individual’s occupational skills and knowledge. When seeking for employment, people should focus on enhancing their soft skills, because they are equally important as hard skills to achieve success on the job front. Unlike hard skills which can be learned and evolved over time, soft skills are comparatively difficult to attain and change. Every profession requires a different type of soft skillset, for example, doctors will be appreciated more if they had empathy, active listening, understanding and good bedside manner. Whereas the hard skills required for the profession of a doctor would be the ability to interpret test results and symptoms, understanding of physiology and anatomy and vast comprehension of illness. - Study24x7
