Roger A. Straus Clinical sociologist Roger Austin Straus (1948–) was born in New York. He received his doctorate from the University of California–Davis in 1977. Over the course of his career, Straus has worked for various organizations. He currently provides marketing research and consulting to pharmaceutical companies. Straus is a cofounder of the Clinical Sociology Association, the organization that is now the Sociological Practice Association. He was also editor of the organization’s newsletter. His publications include works on self-hypnosis, marriage and family therapy, and his well-known text Using Sociology: An Introduction from the Applied and Clinical Perspectives (2002), currently in its third edition (“Straus, Roger Austin” 2003). - Study24x7
