Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) conducts the Common Entrance Test each year for students wanting to opt for different Postgraduate courses. This exam is held by ten universities (jointly) on a national level. These universities include Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Kashmir, Jammu, Jharkhand, South Bihar, Karnataka and Kerala. The aim of this exam is to provide immense opportunities for students to pursue their post-graduation from the universities they wish to apply. This exam is held across India and witnesses many aspirants each year. The conducting Body for this exam is the Central University of Rajasthan. In this article, we will discuss the detailed CUCET 2020 Exam Overview. 


Exam Date:

The online application process for CUCET starts in the month of March each year. The official notification for this exam has been already released but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dates for the exam are yet to be announced.

Exam Pattern:

The Exam pattern of the CUCET Exam 2020 is as follows:- 

  1. The CUCET exam will be conducted in an offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based.
  2. The duration of the exam is for 2 hours. 
  3. The questions asked in the exam are MCQ based. 
  4. The total number of questions asked in the exam is 100.
  5. The paper is divided into two parts i.e. Part A and Part B where Part A consists of 25 MCQs and Part B consists of 75 MCQs. 
  6. The questions asked in Part A are based on general awareness and numerical ability.
  7. The questions asked in Part B are based on the respective subject the candidate has applied for. 



Exam Syllabus:

Exam Syllabus for CUCET Exam is released on their online portal. The Syllabus for this exam is different as per the subjects the candidates apply. Candidates are advised to check their official portal for the subject-wise syllabus


Eligibility Criteria:

The Eligibility Criteria for CUCET PG entrance is as follows:-

A candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in the same field in which they wish to apply for the PG course. 

The marks criteria according to the caste category is- 

For General- 55% in UnderGraduation 

For SC/ST- 50% in UnderGraduation


Application Form & Fees:

The Application form filling for the CUCET 2020 is available in both Offline as well as Online Mode. Candidates need to visit their online portal i.e. https://www.cucetexam.in/ to fill the form. One needs to first Register, upload the supporting documents like scanned photographs and signature and pay the application fees. Remember to keep a copy of the filled form for further references. 


The Application fees can be paid through Debit card, Credit Card, Net Banking or Challan (Applicable for only SBI Bank of any branch). 

The fees for General/OBC is Rs 800 + Rs 50 for Bank Commission so total fees to be paid is Rs 850. 

SC/ST- Rs 350 + Rs 50 for Bank Commission so total fees to be paid is Rs 400.  

PWD candidates are exempted from the payment of fees.  


Admit Card:

Admit Card is the most essential thing which needs to be preserved by the candidates. It is an entry-point for attending the examination. 

The admit card for CUCET will be sent to the respective candidates on their registered email ID. They need to download and print the admit card. The card will also be required during the examination. 


Cutoffs: 

The cutoffs for the CUCET Exam 2020 will be different according to each university that is participating in the CUCET. Candidates are advised to check the official portal of each of these universities to get a fair idea of the cutoffs. Generally, the cutoffs will depend on the overall performance of the students in the Entrance exam. 


Result:

The Result of the CUCET Exam will be released on the online portal. Candidates need to check the results by entering their seat no on the portal. 


Selection Process: 

Candidates who have scored good marks and cleared the exam will be first called to attend the Personal Interview or group discussion round. After clearing that, they need to attend the online counseling session. In this session, candidates are briefed for document verification and admission process. This session carries 60% (written test) and 40% weightage (Interview). Note that each university conducts their own counseling session.
