What is AFSB Interview?

 

Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted twice a year by the Indian Air Force recruiting students for the position of Officers in Flying, Technical, Administration, Logistics branch for permanent and short service commission officers. 

Candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the AFCAT exam, the Indian Air Force(IAF) call those candidates for the AFSB interview. So, here is the list of some of the Important documents to carry for AFSB Interview.

 

 (a) Original Admit Card. In the event that the candidate is not having the admit card, he / she shall file an affidavit stating the valid reason. Documents such as copy of FIR in case of loss / theft of the same also need to support the reason.

 

(b) Official Matriculation / Secondary School Passing Certificate and Mark Sheets issued by CBSE / ICSE / State Board / any authorized Board (No other certificate would be authorized to validate the date of birth).

 

(c) Original Marks 10 + 2 or equivalent Sheet & Certificate (issued by the Board).


(d) Evidence of passing the qualification exams:-

 

(i) Graduation Degree (Original / Provisional) if it is applied on a graduation basis.

 

(ii) If applied on the basis of Post Graduation, in addition to the above (i), PG degree (Original/Provisional).      

 

(iii) Bonafide certificate in the event that the candidate appears during the final year / semester of the qualification exam. In the event that a candidate appears in the FY / final PG semester, he / she will also produce documents referred to in (i) above.

 

(iv)Provisional College Certificate given by Principal is inappropriate. However, provisionally issued University Degree Certificate is appropriate. Have a look further to know more about the important documents to carry for AFSB Interview.

 

(e) The Bonafide Certificate should include the following:-

 

(i) Name of the College.

 

(ii) Name of the University.

 

(iii) Discipline in which Graduation/ Post Graduation obtained.

 

(iv) Aggregate Percentage.

 

(v) Likely Date of Declaration(in DD/MM/YYYY Format) of Final Result.

 


In case the likely date of result is further 15 June for course starting in July or 15 December for course starting in January, the onus of producing the necessary documents before the given date lies with the candidate.

 

(f) At the time of appearance for an SSB interview, the candidate should not be in a current backlog. In the event that the candidate has cleared the backlog / arrear of any semester, a mark sheet issued by College / University should substantiate the same.


Alternatively, a certificate may be produced which clearly mentions the year of passing & marks scored by the authority of the college / university. Reappearing merely in that issue will not be viewed as clearing the backlog.

 

(g) Where the University follows the grading scheme and the percentage of marks can not be ascertained from the marks sheets, a college / university certificate must be issued specifically showing the following:-


(i) Marks in Percentage obtained in the qualifying degree/examination.

 

(ii) Methodology/formula used to arrive at percentage.

 

(iii) Whether all subjects studied have been specified or not to arrive at percentage.

 

(h) All subjects and semesters are to be considered in order to reach a percentage without eliminating any non-credit subject / semester or reducing the weighting of any subject / semester.


(i) Three photocopies (attested) of all mark sheets/passing certificates.

 

(j) Original NCC Certificate (if applicable)

 

(k) NOC from employers of candidates working in Central/State Governments or Public sector undertakings.

 

(l) Original valid Commercial Pilots’ License, issued by DGCA, if applicable.

 

(m)Railway/Bus Tickets hard copy (for refund of Travelling Allowances).

 

(n) Proof of Identity: Following shall be accepted as proof of identity.

 

(i) Driving License.

 

(ii) Indian Passport.

 

(iii) Voter Identity Card.

 

(iv) Aadhar Card.

 

(v) PAN Card.

 

(vi) College ID (Valid only for appearing candidates in final year/semester).

 

(o) Candidates should, preferably, provide details of two Gazetted Officers (not in blood relationship) and residing in their place of residence and who personally knows them to facilitate verification.


Note 1: Applicants who do not have the above documents or those who do not meet the eligibility requirements should not apply to the AFSB because they will not be eligible for the tests and will be returned. We would not be able to receive travel expenses, either.


Note 2: Applicants are also advised to carry for documentation twenty-five copies of recent passport size color photographs taken in light colored clothes (if recommended).

 

 (p)Requisites: You are advised to bring the following items:

 

(1) One pair of White Shirt/ T-Shirt, Shorts/ Trouser/ Track Suit/ Salwar kameez, Socks and a pair of white sports shoes.

 

(2) Adequate writing material (Pens and lead pencils).

 

(3) Clothing, according to season.

 

(4) Medium size locks to safeguard your personal luggage.

 

(5) Two pairs of formal dresses for mess premises and interview.


Traveling Allowance(TA): Traveling Allowance is admissible on the shortest route for AC-III tier Mail / Express trains to and from Call Up or departure (whichever is closer). Change of address, if any, shall be reported to the Board at least 2 weeks prior to the date of reporting.


You must supply the board with the hard copy of the Railway fare / Bus fare / Air ticket, along with the boarding pass, otherwise no TA will be charged. The amount of TA shall be limited to the highest allowed by the law, and not to the amount actually spent on the journey. The amount of two is payable to the applicant. Be admissible under the rules authorized by the Government. No TA admits

Discipline: Your behavior is expected to be disciplined and orderly during your stay at the Board. Any act of indiscipline or wrongdoing will cause your candidature to be cancelled. In all matters relating to indiscipline and/or misconduct, the President of the Board's decision shall be final and no appeal shall be entertained against his judgment. If you directly or indirectly try to influence any Board member, your candidacy will be cancelled.


General: There is no facility for secure custody of cash and valuables at AFSBs. Do not bring valuables or excess money. Candidates are not permitted to carry their cell phones, laptops or cameras indoors.
