Verbal reasoning: In verbal reasoning, your ability to understand and work through the concepts to solve a problem is tested. The maximum number of questions in the reasoning section comes from verbal reasoning. The topics covered in this are analogy, classification, number/alphanumeric series, missing number, coding-decoding, word formation, direction and distance, ranking and arrangements, arrangement of words. These questions are easy to solve. You just need to understand and remember the concept. Practice from a variety of sources and attempt quizzes topic-wise. When you are comfortable with the different topics, start attempting quizzes of the complete set of topics, analyse your result and make improvements accordingly.

Non-verbal reasoning: This tests your ability to understand, analyse and interpret visual data and solve the problem. It does not involve any language. The topics covered in this are mirror and water image, paper cutting and folding, cubes and dices, embedded figures, matrix-based questions. Cover each topic thoroughly and have a clear understanding of them. You can experiment with mirror and water image and paper cutting and folding topics by taking real objects. Most questions will be solved by the concept of elimination. Identify the technique to solve the questions and practice them.

Series: Two types of series can be asked here. One is number series and other is alphabet series. The best way to approach these questions is to first understand how many kinds of series can be made. There can be series with a constant difference, increasing difference, decreasing difference, squares and cubes series, a combination of different operations or a mixture of any of these. Firstly, observe the series and start applying the different concepts that you have learned. If nothing works, try to identify a pattern between the alternate elements or the resultant of two elements. This will only happen if you practice a lot of series. It will make you aware of a lot of unconventional ways of finding the pattern.

Blood relations: If you follow the correct approach, the questions related to blood relations can be a lot of fun and scoring at the same time. The most efficient way to attempt these questions is to make a flow chart. Read the passage and keep drawing the flow chart according to the conditions. You can denote a "circle" for females and a "square" for males. This will make the identification much easier. Similarly, you can make your own signs and indicators for different relations. Practice them and find out what works best for you.
