TS PGECET 2021 Exam Overview
Post-Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS PGECET) is a State Level Common Entrance Exam held by the Telangana State. The motive of this exam is to offer admission to students in various PG programs like M.E, M. Tech, M. Arch and M. Pharmacy. The conducting body for this examination is Osmania University, Hyderabad. It conducts the exam on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. Many aspirants including GATE and GPAT qualified students attend this exam each year. In this article, we will discuss the detailed TS PGECET 2020 Exam Overview.
Exam Date:
The Exam was supposed to be held on 28 May-31 May however the exam was canceled as the lockdown was imposed during this date as a preventive step for the COVID-19 pandemic. The official exam date is still not released on the online portal of the University. The new schedule is as follows:-

Exam Pattern & Syllabus:
The Exam Pattern of the TS PGECET 2020 is as follows:-
- It is an online-based examination and the duration of the paper will be for 2 hours.
- There will be 120 MCQ based questions asked in the paper.
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- There is no negative marking.
- The total number of papers is 17 for various courses.
The Exam Syllabus for TS PGECET is different as per the subjects. Candidates are advised to check the online portal for the same.
Eligibility Criteria:
The Eligibility criteria for this exam is as follows:-
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- A candidate must submit Telangana Domicile with a certificate proof.
- The Local/non-local of the candidate must be as per the rules of the University.
- A candidate must be engineering, pharmacy or architecture graduate with 50% aggregate marks for general category and 45% for SC/ST.
- There is no age limit to apply for this exam.
- GATE and GPAT qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance exam and priority is given to these candidates.
Application form & Fees:
Candidates are supposed to fill the online application form available on their online portal. They should fill the correct personal and educational details, upload scanned photographs and signature and pay the application fees.
The application fees for the general category are Rs 1000 whereas for SC/ST category is Rs 500. The fees can be paid via Credit, debit or net banking.
Exam Centers:
The Exam Centers for TS PGECET Exam 2020 is majorly divided into five zones i.e. Hyderabad East, Hyderabad West, Hyderabad North, Hyderabad South-East and Hyderabad Central. Candidates must select the nearest exam center. Note that the officials have the right to add or delete a particular zone and allocate another exam zone to the candidates.
Admit Card:
The Admit Card is released on the online portal where the candidate has to enter their Seat No and download the Admit card. This should be maintained safely as it is required to carry during the examination.
Cutoffs:
The cutoffs for this exam will be released category wise and college wise in separate lists. Candidates should visit the official portal of the Osmania University for the same.
The marks required in TS PGECET Exam are as follows:-
For General Category, the minimum cutoff is 25% i.e. 30 marks.
For SC/ST and other reserved categories, there is no minimum cutoff and the marks can be scored below 30 as well.
Result:
The Result for the TS PGECET is released on the online portal of the university. It is based on the rank and percentile approach. Candidates should enter their Seat No and check their results. Also, print the result for further references.
Counselling Process:
The Counselling Process is carried out by the Osmania University according to the rank of the candidate. There is a maximum of three counselling sessions where further admission process is explained to the candidates.
The TS PGECET Exam 2020 will not be held until further notification. Candidates must keep on checking the official site of the university for the exam date and other exam related details.
