NEET: How to Choose the Right Study Material
Cracking NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is a dream of many aspirants. With a dream in the eyes and will in the heart, many aspirants begin their preparation for the examination. The biggest hurdle they face is choosing the right study material. Some students rely just on the textbooks and some end up referring to multiple books that lead to confusion. These days coaching institutes also provide their references books, which adds to the pile. Deciding which book to use as a standard reference study material can be a tricky proposition.
It is of utmost importance that the studying material used should be standard throughout the preparation. Each book/author has a different undertone and style of explaining a concept and this has a vast impact on the understanding of a subject. One must understand the difference between having multiple study materials and referring multiple books for one purpose.
Let's take an example of both :
- Having multiple study material : Studying Material must consist of different materials that can form a kit that aids in overall preparation for the examination. This generally must include Textbooks, reference books, notes, a book that provides MCQ practice etc. These books prove beneficial for different phases of preparation like reading, self study, revision and assessment.
- Referring multiple books for one purpose : This basically means referring multiple books for reading a single topic. For eg., using NCERT Physics, Concepts of Physics by H. C. Verma, Objective Physics By DC Pandey and Fundamental Physics by Pradeep altogether in order to understand the concept better. But this will not only cause confusion and chaos but will also end up being boring and uninterested. Rather we can pick one book and get our concept cleared easily.
