All You Need to Know About NEET 2020

The nation is under the clasp of the COVID-19 which resulted in shutting the whole country. In the wake of this pandemic some examinations got canceled and some postponed. 


NEET examination has been one of the most awaited examinations by the students. Due to the uncertainty of the examination in wake of the pandemic, there has been stress and concerns over the cancelation or postponement of the examination. 


The National Testing Agency(NTA) established by the The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) issued the rescheduled dates for the medical entrance examination NEET 2020 on 22/05/2020 at 2:00pm IST.


According to the notice issued, the NEET 2020 examination will be held on 26.07.2020 (Sunday) from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM. The examination was originally scheduled to be held on May 3 but was postponed due to the pandemic.


ISSUE OF ADMIT CARDS

Admit cards for NEET 2020 are expected to be released in the month of July. 


PAPER PATTERN 

The examination consists of 3 subjects viz., Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) with questions being the multiple choice.



  1. Each question carries 04 marks. For each correct answer candidate will get 04 marks and on each incorrect answer 01 mark will be deducted from the total score.
  2. After the process of challenge of key, if more than one option is found to be correct then all/any one of the multiple correct/best options marked will be given four marks (+4). 
  3. Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1). 
  4. Unanswered/ Unattempted questions will be given no marks. 
  5. In case, a question is dropped/ ignored, all candidates will be given four marks(+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.


SYLLABUS 

The examination syllabus is the same as it was earlier. No revisions have been made.

The exam has been rescheduled now, but there seems a possibility that if the situation still deteriorates the examination can be subjected to rescheduling.


MODE OF EXAMINATION 

Offline

The mode of examination remains unchanged.

ELIGIBILITY 

  1. A Candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized institute. This an important and uncompromisable eligibility condition.
  2. The minimum aggregate required in the qualifying examination is 50% for those belonging to the general category.
  3. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category need a minimum aggregate of 40% and those belonging to the OBC category need at least 45% in the qualifying examination.
  4. There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for NTA NEET 2020, however, the minimum age required to appear for the examination is 17 years.
