The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts examinations for private and public schools in India. Whereas the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is an exam that is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. Both these boards have their own pros which help shape the students for their future. Talking about the syllabus then ICSE covers a more in-depth syllabus that imparts practical knowledge to students. While on the other hand, CBSE covers a limited and easy syllabus focusing more on the theoretical part.

In this article, we will discuss the major differences between CBSE and ICSE Biology syllabus. You must know that Biology is a very important subject. Clearing this subject with good marks will allow you to explore more opportunities in the medical field after your class 12th. By clearing your basics, you can be well prepared for various medical competitive exams like NEET, JIPMER, AIIMS, etc. So students must first focus on understanding the syllabus and then proceed with their exam preparations.

CBSE Vs ICSE: Entire Curriculum

The curriculum of ICSE is designed in a way to give the best practical knowledge to the students. The syllabus covers in-depth concepts and is comparatively tougher than the CBSE syllabus. ICSE focuses on other subjects like arts, humanities, Hindi, Marathi, Telegu, Tamil, etc other than science and maths. This curriculum prepares students to understand real-life situations by letting them learn chapters that will be useful in real life.

When we talk about CBSE than this board covers easy and fewer subjects as compared to ICSE. The focus is more on subjects like science and maths. The theoretical part here is more which does not allow students to learn the practical aspects. Lastly, the syllabus leaves very little scope for students who want to pursue other specializations and crack competitive exams after 12th as it pays less attention to a variety of subjects.

So if we compare the syllabus of both the boards then ICSE will be feasible for those who want to learn practical knowledge and improve their chances of acing any high competitive exams. Whereas CBSE will be feasible for those who are more interested in science and maths subjects. Along with this, CBSE will ensure you don’t have a rigid curriculum.

CBSE Vs ICSE: Which Board is better?

CBSE Board provides convenience to students i.e. a student who is not affiliated with a CBSE board before can appear for the CBSE exam. Also, there are many schools in India that are affiliated with CBSE. On the other hand, if a student wants to appear for the ICSE exam then he/she must be affiliated with the ICSE school in the past. This leaves no choice for the student to give an exam through the ICSE board.

ICSE Board supports only English as their medium of instruction whereas CBSE supports both Hindi and English as their medium of instruction. As ICSE focuses on English, students can improve their English proficiency and be well prepared to crack high-level competitive exams.

To conclude, in this article we have discussed all the major differences between CBSE and ICSE including the syllabus. Talking about the Biology subject then the scope of this subject is very rewarding as students can pursue medical after their class 12th and become doctors or take up any job related to the medical field.

The biology syllabus of both CBSE and ICSE are the same however ICSE covers more in-depth concepts. So students who are confused and want to choose a better board for themselves should consider all the information that we mentioned above and only then choose the required board for themselves.
