SSC Stenographer exam is a government recruitment exam. There is a certain pattern for conducting these examinations. An SSC Stenographer work includes the responsibility of the press conference meetings, briefings, speech writing, helping in public relations etc. There are various departments under the government which require the help of these SC Stenographers. Some important highlights about the SSC Stenographer Exam:


  1. The minimum educational qualification which is required to appear for the exam is to be a school graduate from a recognized board.
  2. There are certain documents which are required to appear for the examination.
  3. SSC Stenographer exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
  4. It is a competitive exam and therefore over the years the level of the exam had been difficult.
  5. Therefore, the candidate must be well prepared and must know the structure and pattern of the exam. 


Preparation Tips for SSC Stenographer Exam:


The SSC Stenographer Exam is conducted by the government for recruitment into Grade-C and Grade-D offices. This exam is completed in two stages i.e. the written test and the skill test. Therefore, the candidate must be prepared for both the tests.


  1. The written exam consists of 200 questions from the General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language and Comprehension. 


  1. Candidates are advised to read newspaper articles and books in order to enhance their grammar and vocabulary along with having general awareness about various topics.


  1. The candidates who qualify in the written exam are further granted the permission to appear in the SSC Stenography Skill Test.


  1. Candidates are also advised to sharpen their typing skills i.e. 80 - 100 words per minute. This speed is required for both Grade – C and Grade – D recruitment.


  1. The candidates can expect medium to difficult type of questions of logical reasoning and rationality in the exam.


  1. Candidates must possess time management, the required speed and accuracy for the exam and for that practice is necessary way before the exam date. 


SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2020:


The SSC Stenographer exam is conducted in two phases i.e. the written exam and the skill tests. The written exam comprises of three sections, each consisting of 200 marks.


  1. Part I – This section consists of General intelligence and Reasoning (50 Marks).
  2. Part II – This section lays emphasis on the questions pertaining to General Awareness (50 Marks).
  3. Part III – This section comprises of English Comprehension and Language (100 Marks).
  4. Questions are the Objective type questions.
  5. For an incorrect answer 0.25 marks are deducted.
  6. The exam takes place in the online mode i.e. Computer Based Examination (CBE).
  7. The answer keys are published on the official site after the exam is concluded.
