Vivek says one must focus on topics not keep hunting for materials. And no unit of the syllabus can be ignored. Too much deep study is not exactly needed, just focus on facts. And current affairs related to the syllabus can’t be ignored.
ADVICE TO MANAGE TIME WHILE GIVING THE EXAM
According to Vivek, time management is very important. Enough time of 180 minutes for 150 questions is given but time needs to be properly maintained. One minute only should be given for one question.
THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF THE UGC NET EXAM
Covering the whole syllabus is difficult. Diverse topics in paper 1 are quite troublesome. Rest of the exam is easy and with smart preparation will not be difficult to track.
A POINT TO KEEP IN MIND TO PERFORM WELL ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM
On the day of the exam students should keep their cools a lot too well. Any kind of tension, anxiety and excitement should be avoided. Try to attempt all questions.
The next candidate who cleared the UGC NET exam:
RAJAT SEN, qualified UGC NET 2019 exam for Assistant Professor in Mass Communication and Journalism. He shares his UGC NET topper tips will all the aspirants. He scored a total of 178 out of 300 marks. Rajat completed his bachelor’s degree in Science with a Physics major from Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat, Assam.
But he challenged himself and changed his subject to complete his post-graduation in Mass Communication from Assam Central University, Silchar. He was also awarded the Gold Medal for the same. Now Rajat is pursuing Doctorate of Philosophy(PhD) in Mass Communication and Journalism at Tezpur Central University, Assam.
He is a hardworking and sincere student who likes singing, playing badminton and watching motorsports on TV.
EXPECTATIONS OF RAJAT FROM UGC NET EXAM?
Rajat says that he did not think much about writing the exam. But later after tallying his response sheet with the UGC NET answer key he was confident of clearing the exam for the post of Assistant Professor if not JRF.
RAJAT’S PREPARATION STRATEGY TO CRACK UGC NET
He says clearing the exam pursuing alongside master’s course is the best approach. In this way one is able to keep with all the theoretical concepts of your preparation. Revision, practice and persistence is the key. And having a decent score in paper-1 makes the job much easier. The more you score in paper-1 the more chances you have of clearing NET/JRF.
REQUIREMENT OF COACHING FOR THE EXAM?
Rajat did not take any coaching for the exam. He says self-study is enough for the exam. One can take coaching if needed but the bulk of the syllabus has to be covered by the aspirant on his own. Coaching can only guide you to a limit.
STUDY PLAN FOLLOWED FOR THE EXAM
Rajat did not have a dedicated study plan for himself. He studied for a couple of hours each day twice or thrice a week. But for better results he advises students to practice everyday even for an hour. This way consistency can be built up and last-moment worries can be handled better.
RECOMMENDED BOOKS TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAM
Rajat recommends a book by KVS Madan for paper-1.But reading newspapers and staying updated with current affairs of the country and world can be helpful.
For paper-2 he did not follow a particular book. UGC NET previous years’ question papers, mock tests and notes helped him a lot.
HOW DID RAJAT DEAL WITH EXAM FEAR?
Rajat felt personally that no one can be a jack of all trades while sitting for any competitive exam. All sections carry equal weightage so if one is weak in one section he/she can make it up in the next section. The number sections namely, numerical aptitude, data interpretation are quite scoring if little effort is put into them.
MISTAKES TO AVOID WHILE PREPARING FOR THE EXAM
According to Rajat, during the examination with the new UGC NET exam pattern it is not compulsory to finish paper-1 within an hour. Paper-2 does not take the entire two hours. The ability to switch between the two sections during any stage of the exam is a definite bonus for students. Students should start with the easy sections the ones he/she wants to start with.
ADVICE TO MANAGE TIME WHILE GIVING THE EXAM
According to Rajat the candidate should not panic under any circumstance and if he/she is preparing for CBT(Computer-based test) for the first time, then they should visit the official website of NTA(National Testing Agency) and get familiar with the whole examination process.
The paper is a bit challenging and confusing but with enough practice it can be managed. Different color codes for different sets of responses(some recorded and saved, some marked and left for review and unsaved)make it complicated. There’s no need to look down at the countdown timer as it gives panic.
THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF UGC NET EXAM
Rajat says that every year presents a new set of challenges. Sometimes the numerical aptitude section is tough, sometimes the comprehension and sometimes the assertion/reasoning etc.
One can not predict these things accurately. He did not find paper-1 tough. Students belonging to streams apart from science can also master it all with a little more of added practice. He found paper-2 comparatively tougher.
A THING TO KEEP IN MIND FOR STUDENTS FOR THE EXAM
According to Rajat, try not to learn new things, concepts just before you sit in the exam hall or on the previous night. It can mess with your head and confuse you with all that you already know. It is advisable to revise what all you have learnt over the course of the few months that you had been preparing for the exam.
TIPS FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE PLANNING TO TAKE THE EXAM NEXT YEAR
Rajat says to start the preparations early for the same. Be systematic, motivated and focused.
This all about the UGC NET 2019 Exam analysis & topper tips that will help candidates know the exam better and clear it without any worries. Good luck
